Lisa Marie and Jessica Louise Origliasso are Australia’s latest pop sensation. These identical twin sisters were born on December 25, 1984 and Jess is the older sister by one minute. They grew up in the suburb Albany Creek in Brisbane.

At a young age the sisters joined a theatre company which encouraged the girls’ natural abilities with singing, dancing and acting.

When the sisters were 17 they both scored roles in a short lived children’s drama ‘Cybergirl’.

When the girls turned 18, Jess got a guitar for her birthday and it was the start of the sisters writing and singing their own songs in the rock-pop style that the girls are known for.

Their first release ‘Baby It's Over’, received very little airplay and only in Brisbane. In 2004 the sisters signed a record deal and in 2005 released their debut album ‘The Secret Life of Us’. It debuted at #7 and went four times platinum. The girls went on to receive an ARIA award for the ‘Best Pop Release’.

In 2006 ‘The Veronicas’ as they are known released their second album and DVD, ‘Exposed…The Secret Life Of The Veronicas’ and it debuted in Australia at #6 and went double platinum.

The name ‘The Veronicas’ comes from the comic strip Archie; Veronica Lodge is a main character of the cartoon series. There was threat of a court case for copyright infringements but the case has been settled with a cross promotion deal and the sisters have appeared in several of the comic books.

The girls signed a contract with Choice Calvin Klein to help launch the Autumn 2005 collection and they are spokespersons for hair care company nu:u, they have also been working on a Designers for Target clothing range for children and teens.

On a personal note, in May 2007, Lisa started dating Dean Geyer the Australian Idol runner up of the 2006 series. It will be a long distance relationship for the most part as Lisa and her sister are currently based in Los Angeles.
