Marcia Cross of Desperate Housewives and Melrose Place fame became a mum to twin girls Eden and Savannah at age 44.
The actress who had only just gotten married in June 2006, tried IVF a week after their wedding instead of going on a honeymoon. It worked and she announced that she was pregnant with twins, but it was not all smooth sailing - 4 weeks before her due date, Marcia developed pre-eclampsia and under went an emergency c-section to bring the twins Savannah (6 lbs. 7 oz.) and Eden (5 lbs. 10 oz.) into the world.
In an interview Marcia explained how the girls’ names were chosen. ‘Savannah came to me in this premonition. A long time ago, I had this kind of spiritual experience that I will have this child and her name will be Savannah. Then when Tom and I didn't even know we were having girls, he wrote me an e-mail and said, 'I just heard a name I like: Savannah.' I had the complete chills.' As for Eden, Marcia says, 'I was getting a massage and it came to me.'
Marcia also talked about breastfeeding and is tandem breastfeeding her twins, as well as expressing. Mastering the art of simultaneously nursing two babies ‘is a huge accomplishment,' says Marcia. 'My life is more organized for sure. But it’s not like I’m cooking! I’m breastfeeding - I feel like that’s the best cooking I could do.’
Eden and savannah were baptized on the 17th June on Fathers day in The States. The girls were dressed in identical white christening gowns and the ceremony was at Trinity Episcopal Church. In Santa Barbara California. Marcia, 45, held baby Eden while Tom, 50, held baby Savannah.
