These Canadian twins were born on 1st June 1974 and Wade is the elder twin by 14 minutes. Alanis has the higher musical profile with a world wide recording success including 7 Grammy awards. Her first two albums were released in Canada only in the early ‘90s, and finally her big break came in 1995 with her record breaking album ‘Jagged Little Pill’. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, and at the time of writing, ‘Jagged Little Pill’ was the best-selling debut album of all time by a female artist, with over thirty million copies sold worldwide. Alanis has also tried at her hand at acting. In 1993 she starred in Just One of the Girls and in recent years was a guest star on Sex and the City and starred in the play ‘The Vagina Monologues’. She also guest starred in 3 episodes of Nip and Tuck playing a lesbian. On a personal note she has beaten the eating disorder anorexia nervosa which she battled in her late teens and in 2007 her 3 year engagement to Ryan Reynolds ended. Alanis and her twin brother Wade are very close and she has often mentioned him when doing performances, the song ‘No Pressure over Cappuccino’ is written about and dedicated to Wade. Wade has gone in a very different direction; both he and his sister took to music when both were young. Wade studied Piano and later the guitar. It was while he was in college that he found yoga. He has been practicing and teaching yoga for 12 years. In India, Wade studied many different styles commonly known as Viniyoga, Classical Ashtanga, Anusara tradition, Kriya yoga, and pregnancy yoga. It was while he was exploring Devotional yoga and chanting that he realized that he could mix his two loves of music and yoga. He has developed a unique style of Indie style rock with Sanskrit and English chants. He released 3 CDs in 2007 'Strong as diamonds', ‘Sargam Scales of Music’ and ‘Savasana Land Relaxation’ and is working on his first book, ‘Yoga Sadhana - Bringing Yoga into your modern life’. He also has finished the first of a series of DVDs ‘Shiva Vinyasa Flow with the theme Invigorate’ and his music is heard often on SacredSoundsRadio.com in the US.
