If you’ve just found out you’re pregnant with twins, congratulations! Just like Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lopez, you too can look fabulous throughout your twin pregnancy. 

When buying twin maternity gear, the main difference of course will be the size of your bump – all through your pregnancy you’re likely to eclipse friends who are pregnant with one baby, especially in the last trimester. It’s not uncommon for twin-mums-to-be to start showing at 10 weeks so you’ll need to be a step ahead of the game.  Here are some hot tips for planning your twin maternity wardrobe.

Don't stinge on style
There’s no reason to think that you can’t look glamorous when carrying twins.  Buy modern styles that can take you from pregnancy and beyond, looking good and fabulous all the way. You’ll feel great and look fantastic.  Try to save by borrow things from friends who have also been pregnant. Wear fashionable trousers and balance them with a fitted top - just add a fabulous bag and funky shoes.

Don't buy for a specific trimester
It's better to invest in key pieces that grow with you, rather than purchasing styles that won’t last beyond the second trimester. Think beyond the pregnancy and look for garments that come with nursing functions if you intend to breastfeed (and you should). Crossover tops, dresses and wraps are perfect as they expand as your bump does.  As tempting as it may be, try to avoid cuts and materials that are suitable only for the early days - it may surprise you as to how little opportunity you have to wear them.  Be skeptical of shop assistants who insist that a particular garment will get you through your twin pregnancy – if in doubt, don’t take the risk.

Show off your cleavage
Don't be shy about it. For many of us, a twin pregnancy creates amazing cleavage. Maximise your assets by drawing attention to your curves with plunging necklines, scoop or V.

Only buy friendly fabrics
Stretchy and drapey fabrics like jersey fit seamlessly into every woman's wardrobe. Style up or dress down, versatile and flattering, creating a smooth silhouette that grows with you and always fits. We suggest that for your twin pregnancy you choose very stretchable fabrics like rayon or spandex. Choose clean lines and quality fabrics, and solid colours for a polished finish.  Accessorize to create different looks.

Fit is key
Choose clothes for a body flattering fit. Avoid too big or too small. Celebrate your curves with wrap and ruche styles that follow your form and adjust at every stage.  If you're tempted to buy bigger, please reconsider. The extra fabric in non-maternity wear may cover your bump, but it will swamp all your body's sexy new curves.  There are some gorgeous maternity clothes out there now, so gone are the days where twin mums bought plus sizes to get through their pregnancy.

Work it
Show off your best bits. Clever designs enhance your elegant neck, delicate shoulders and cleavage, accented with a low V neck. Find time to treat yourself to a really nice haircut, facial, pedicure and manicure - you deserve it. Go splurge on yourself once in a while. You'll be happier (not to mention, the babies and daddy as well).

Shoes, shoes, shoes
Shoes are key accessories every season. Play with colour, go for jewel encrusted or sparkly fancy flats and you might need to do away with the sexy heels in your last trimester.  It’s not uncommon to have to buy up a size in shoes for the last trimester of your pregnancy due to swollen feet, but make sure they're feminine and fun. Footwear is the perfect way to accent a look.
